The principle minister of the Eucharist or any liturgical celebration is the People of God raising its voice in word and song. God is truly praised when everyone in the church actively uses voice and body in participation in the prayer of thanksgiving – the Eucharist. The congregation is assisted in this ministry by the Accompanist, Cantor and choir members.

This minister exercises the primary role of leadership in the liturgical music at mass, administration of the sacraments, and the official liturgical prayer of the church.
The cantor may be the song leader at masses at which he/she is the sole music minister. In masses at which other music ministers are present, the cantor leads the assembly in the responsorial Psalm and the Gospel Acclamation.
The members of this group employ the primary musical instrument, the voice, in assisting the assembly in sung liturgy. They may also enhance the assembly’s voice by the addition of polyphony or part music. At the appropriate times the choir ministers by offering special scared music.
Many people have been given the gift or ability to play one or more instruments. Anyone with such a gift is encouraged to join the liturgical music ensemble.
Contact the Parish Office for more information on how to volunteer for this ministry (376-9435).
